Every woman loves brunch and mimosas right?
Over the weekend I had the opportunity to attend my first Because Women Love Brunch event hosted by Amanda Bell (IG: @iamamandabell) and it was amazing. It was truly a breath of fresh air to be around a group of positive women who were all about connecting with like-minded women who were all about growth and success. The theme for Saturday’s brunch was inspired by Solange’s latest album, “A Seat at the Table”. The host did a great job with the food selection, decor as well as the music. I definitely enjoyed my seat at the table!
The event started off with a meet and greet between each attendee. Unfortunately, I missed this part of the brunch due to traffic and being fashionably late. (Don’t judge me, I’m working on my tardiness.) Thankfully the ladies at my table were able to catch me up and we were able to share our stories and our goals while dining family style. The vibe throughout the entire brunch was wonderful. I could feel the positive energy from everyone. Everyone was friendly and helpful.
As you all know, you can’t get a group of women together and not discuss men, hair and make-up. There was a segment focused on black hair which was really interesting. I loved how the guest speakers Ciara (IG: @ayeciara) and Marlissa (IG: @beautiful_epiphony) were able to dig deep and share their tips and tricks when it comes to natural hair, sew-ins and wigs. Ciara represented for the natural hair women and Marlissa represented for the women who still relax their hair or wear weaves. Amanda also shared her hair success stores as well. What I took away from this segment is that you have to be consistent and patient when it comes to your hair. Everyone’s hair is different so you have to keep trying and truly love your hair. The best part about our hair is that we all have different hair. Being different is the greatest feeling in the world!
Prior to the amazing giveaways and goodie bags, Amanda introduced us all to Monica Zuniga (IG:@monicamanda.co or @weareunveiled). Monica provided us all with the first copy of her magazine entitled, “WE ARE UNVEILED”. (Stay tuned for a review on volume 1). I truly appreciated Monica coming before us all to share her story which was personal and uplifting.
Isatu Rogers (IG: @weyonstyle) offered a few items from her authentic African clothing and accessories line as prizes for the event. No, I didn’t get a chance to win that cute off-the-shoulder African print top but trust I will be purchasing very soon.
Shoutout to all the amazing women I was able to meet during this wonderful event! Lets all continue to connect and uplift one another!
